[ARCHIVED] Billy Lee named City Fleet Manager

Billy Lee

Mayor Joe Pitts announced Monday that Billy Lee has been named Fleet Manager for the City of Clarksville.

Lee served as Interim Fleet Manager and Garage Manager while a search for a new department head was conducted. His appointment is effective May 17.

“Billy has served our City faithfully over the past year as Interim Fleet Manager, and also juggled the Garage Manager position at the same time,” Mayor Pitts said. “He has handled both responsibilities very well. His steady hand and quiet yet affirming demeanor has made a difference. We welcome him to our City leadership team with confidence and enthusiasm.”

Lee, 51, is a lifelong resident of Clarksville. He graduated from Montgomery Central High School in 1988, and he started in the automotive business at 16. He joined the City as Garage Manager in April 2018 after working at local car dealerships in retail sales and in service departments. Outside of work, Lee enjoys the outdoors and golf.

The Fleet Manager coordinates and supervises the Fleet Maintenance Department, which  provides preventative maintenance and repair service on approximately 2,000 pieces of City equipment, ranging from vehicles to lawn equipment. Fleet management uses software to track and provide monthly reports on maintenance schedules, vehicle repairs and other vehicle expenses such as tires and fuel, as well as keeping parts inventories.

Randy Reese, the City’s Fleet Manager since the position was created in 2015, retired from the position May 31, 2020.
