CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The City of Clarksville will celebrate National Trails Day by hosting a grand opening of the new Red River East Trailhead from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 24 at 820 Kraft Street.
This new section of the trail connects the Clarksville Riverwalk to the Red River and the new APSU trail. The event will feature local businesses and organizations, and more details on the City’s greenway expansion plans will be announced. The project was funded by a $1.3 million grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
Clarksville Parks & Recreation Director Jennifer Letourneau said the new trail is a major step toward the final phase.
“The Red River East Trail puts us even closer to connecting the Clarksville Greenway to the Riverwalk.” Letourneau said. “Once the pedestrian bridge is built across the Red River, citizens will enjoy nine miles of trail that span from North Clarksville to downtown.”
The event is free and open to the public. Masks are highly recommended.
