CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Free, professionally installed smoke alarms are available to qualifying local households from Clarksville Fire Rescue and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Residents must fill out an online smoke alarm request or contact the Clarksville Fire Rescue Prevention Office at 931-645-7462 for assistance. The State Fire Marshal’s Office processes the request and shares it with Fire Rescue, which contacts the resident and handles the scheduling and installation. The “Free Smoke Alarm” link is also in the Services/Fire Department section at www.cityofclarksville.com.
“A working smoke alarm is the first and most critical step toward surviving a fire because it affords the occupants valuable time,” Clarksville Fire Marshal Ricky Cumberland said. “We would like to see every home in Clarksville have working smoke alarms. This is a great program and we urge our residents to use it.”
Requesting households must meet the following conditions:
* Your home has no working smoke alarms.
* Smoke alarms in your home are more than 10 years old.
* You reside in the property where alarms are requested.
* Your home is not new construction.
Clarksville Fire Rescue will install the alarms in the residence after the request is processed and approved. Requests will be processed within 6-8 weeks. Alarms cannot be shipped directly to residents.
