Clarksville Parks & Recreation is teaming up with the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) to provide the full barbecue competition experience. KCBS is intended to promote barbecue in small towns across the country. The competitor’s series is comprised of professional and non-professional teams that are required to cook chicken and pork ribs, with an option of pork butt.

The KCBS Competitor's Series is comprised of non-professional and professional teams are required to cook chicken and pork ribs, with the option of pork butt, to win the Grand Championship. In addition, the Competitors Series contest allows for alternative heats sources. The Competitors Series Contest is not eligible for the American Royal or the Jack Daniels World Championship. Cornhole or Corn Toss is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.

Fee: $30.00 per team (due at time of registration)

During the BBQ competition, participants spend a majority of their time perfecting their BBQ, leaving little time to provide samples to the event goers. We are reaching out to local BBQ restaurants as a way to still provide barbecue or other food options, which will be available for purchase at the event. After a $150 vendor fee, your company will have the opportunity to increase brand awareness and profit from this event.

Fee: $150.00/vendor (fee is due after acceptance)

KCBS teams are known for cooking some of the best barbecue in the world, but it takes a dedicated team of judges to decide which is truly the best-of-the-best. Being a Certified barbecue Judge (CBJ) means more than just getting to taste award-winning barbecue - and deciding which barbecue wins those awards. It's about representing and spreading the message of KCBS, which is to promote America's cuisine - barbecue.

In a half-day's time, you'll learn how to grade world-class chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket - and taste them during the process! By the time you're finished, you'll be ready to sign up for the next competition in your area! And remember: your CBJ fee also includes one year's membership to KCBS. It's a win-win!’

Fee:
$65.00 for KCBS Member
$85.00 for KCBS non-member
