The Clarksville Human Relation Commission (CHRC) is a twelve member-citizen body. The Mayor appoints each member to a three-year term. The commission is representative of the social, economic, religious, cultural, ethic, and racial groups of Clarksville.
The mission of the Clarksville Human Relations Commission (CHRC) is to foster mutual understanding and respect for the diversity, which exists among all peoples in our community. The CHRC is dedicated to improving inter-group and interracial relations, employs educational means to promote fair, just, and equitable practices in federal, state, and local governments, and among the various social, economic, religious, cultural, ethic, and racial groups in Clarksville.
Responsibilities of the Clarksville Human Relations Commission
- Conduct ongoing investigations and hearings, and serve as a clearinghouse regarding complaints of discrimination in any form.
- May request or direct ongoing studies on the progress being made to ensure equal opportunity for all citizens of Clarksville.
- Enlist the support of public and private agencies, and government, business, civic, social, religious, professional, and educational, organizations in Clarksville for the purpose of achieving the mission set forth in the By-laws.
- Recommend ways, means, and methods, which will promote change in attitudes and convictions toward discrimination among the various groups in the community.
- Advise, consult, and work cooperatively with the Mayor, City Council members, and other city officials to achieve the objectives of the CHRC.

CHRC meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 P.M in the Code and Building facility. The meetings are open to the public
